Ahoskie, NC — The Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center (RCCHC) is joining an initiative of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) to expand its outreach to recruit more veterans for work at the local RCCHC locations.

The nationwide expansion of health centers places ever-greater demands on health centers to further develop a skilled, trained and dependable workforce. Together, health centers and veterans can fill these gaps and work toward the goal of providing access to high quality, low cost primary health care to all Americans.

“Veterans and health centers have shared values— both are mission driven, committed to their country and their community,” said Tom Van Coverden, President and CEO of NACHC, “We’ve seen the benefits of hiring veterans – natural leadership skills, a ‘get it done’ attitude, combined with very high loyalty in terms of retention rates. We’re encouraging more health centers to reach out to the veteran community – but at the same time, we need to ensure that veterans know how to find us.”

NACHC has launched a video on YouTube to push the effort, and it can be found on rcchc.org and RCCHC’s Facebook page.

Currently, RCCHC is seeking applicants for the following positions: Staff Accountant, Special Population Outreach Worker (grant-funded), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Family Practice Physicians, Mid-Level Provider, PRN: Pharmacist, and Migrant Outreach Promotora. RCCHC has four locations: the Ahoskie Comprehensive Care Center and Corporate Office, located at 120 Health Center Drive in Ahoskie, primary care offices in Colerain and Murfreesboro, and a school-based health center on the campus of Hertford County Middle School in Murfreesboro.
