New Hours at Creswell Primary Care and Colerain Primary Care and Pharmacy

As of Monday, August 3, the Creswell Primary Care, Colerain Primary Care and Colerain Primary Care Pharmacy will have new hours of operation.

RCCHC Pledges to Protect Your Health and Safety

RCCHC encourages our patients not to delay their preventive or chronic disease care and risk serious complications down the road. That's why we’ve established a variety of measures so you can feel comfortable visiting our facilities to get the care you need, when you need it.

Separate Entrances

Every clinic provides separate, isolated entrances for patients with suspected respiratory illness.

Symptom Screenings

All patients and visitors are screened for COVID-19 symptoms before entering our facilities. This includes taking temperatures with a touchless thermometer.

Masks Required

All staff, patients and visitors MUST wear masks covering their nose and mouth AT ALL TIMES while inside RCCHC facilities.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is available for all patients and staff.

Waiting in Vehicles

When possible, patients will be asked to check-in and wait in their vehicles until they are called for their appointment.

Physical Distancing

We are limiting the number of people in our clinics to help maintain a distance of at least 6 feet between each patient.

Disinfecting High-Touch Areas

We clean and disinfect all frequently used areas, such as exam rooms, and high-touch surfaces and objects such as tablets, counters, doorknobs, seating, etc. after each use.

Telehealth Options

Patients advised by their provider to have their appointment by Video Visit can do so from the privacy of their own home.  We also offer "Curbside" Video Visits in our clinic parking lots for patients without a high-speed internet connection, computer or smart device. More information is available on our Telehealth page: https://rcchc.org/telehealth.html

We’ve missed seeing our patients face-to-face! Please know your safety is our top priority. We want you to feel comfortable coming to RCCHC so you can receive uninterrupted care in partnership with your health care team. If you have any questions about our health and safety measures, please contact your RCCHC provider's office for more details, and we will be happy to assist you. RCCHC is here to help you stay Safe and Stay Healthy!

Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center received a generous donation of 50 work aprons for their nursing staff from Ace Home Center of Ahoskie and Murfreesboro. During this very stressful time for all healthcare workers, Ace has helped make RCCHC’s nurses’ jobs that much easier by letting them be "hands free" while working outdoors to care for patients during "Curbside" Video Visits.

In order to protect patients and community members from the spread of COVID-19, RCCHC began offering most services through "telehealth" – essentially, medical care delivered via a patients’ computer or phone. Unfortunately, like most rural regions of the country, many people in RCCHC's service area of Hertford, Bertie, Northampton, Washington and Gates counties lack access to high-speed internet, or don’t have the equipment or technological know-how to complete a Video Visit from their home. RCCHC's solution is to offer "Curbside" Visits in clinic parking lots where patients are able to have a video visit with their provider from the safety of their vehicle, through an Ipad and Wi-Fi connection provided by the health center. Staff are also available to help patients with any technological difficulties during the visit.

Another benefit of Curbside Visits is that nursing staff is able to take vital signs of patients to get a fuller picture of their health. However, with the popularity of the curbside visits, nursing staff was moving in and out of the clinics frequently, and the equipment needed to take vital signs was both inconvenient to transport and at risk of being damaged during adverse weather.

This is where Ace Home Center of Ahoskie and Murfreesboro stepped in.

RCCHC Practice Administrator of Murfreesboro and Woodland Primary Care, Erica Powell, initially went to Ace with the idea to purchase a few work aprons for her nursing staff to help make it easier to carry their equipment and keep it safe. They were such a hit that RCCHC was prepared to purchase enough aprons for the entire nursing staff, but instead Ace generously offered to cover the need by donating 50.

Of the donation, owner of Ace Home Center of Ahoskie and Murfreesboro, Jamie Johnson, said, "We did it for the community and healthcare workers on the front lines. I think all businesses and individuals have an obligation to help out their community any way we can.  If the donation from ACE helped RCCHC's nurses, that's what matters."

“Community partnerships mean everything towards RCCHC’s mission, especially now as we are re-tooling how to take care of our patients and keep everyone safe.” Said RCCHC CEO, Kim Schwartz. “Ace always steps up when it comes to community – and we are so grateful for this generous donation.”

RCCHC thanks Ace for stepping up yet again to support not only their nursing staff, but the health of our entire community.
