The 2018 #ChildHealthNC Report Card shows that nearly half of NC’s children live in poor and near-poor homes.
Additionally, several areas where more work is needed to promote child health:
- Nearly 1 in 10 (17.9%) NC high schoolers attempted suicide last year.
- Early prenatal care keeps babies healthy, but just 2/3 of NC moms receive it.
- 1 in 5 NC children live in food insecure households.
- North Carolina has a significant school nurse shortage.
